Trail Description

This is a short trail right outside of town. It was built to grant access to major power transmission lines. The trail dead ends at the end of a ridge with great views of the Sacramento Valley

The trail itself is very easy and any SUV can make it to the end. However there are many man-made rock piles and natural rock out croppings which can be extremely gnarly. Right at the end of the trail where the towers are, you'll find the best challenges and the best views of the cliffs accross the canyon.

Nearby City
There is paynes creek which has a small store open during the day. For gas and more stores, stop in Red Bluff. There is camping available all throughout the area.

Directions

Take I5 to Red Bluff which is 2hrs north of Sacramento. Exit I5 at the CA36/Antelope exit and turn east. At the end of town (approx 1 mile) look for Hwy 36 towards Lassen on the left. Drive 20 miles until you reach the town of Paynes Creek. Exit right. Take the first right, Plum Valley Rd. Drive 3 miles and look for the dirt road on the right labeled Oak Creek Rd. It's just pst the concentration camp. Drive 2/3 of a mile and look for the Section Jeep trail on the right.
