Trail Description
The Tillamook State Forest maintains many great trails reserved for OHV. Some are for Motorcycles only but many are open to all OHV Vehicles. Visit www.tillamookstateforest.com for more info. You should carry a map of the area.
Archers Firebreak is one of our favorites and can be run east to west, or west to east. This trail has it all, Rocky sections, muddy sections, steep hill climbs, and off camber sections.
After climbing up out of the canyon, with spectacular views, the trail starts off to the left. It is well signed and crosses Archers road many times so there is always an easy bypass if needed.
This trail is rated moderate, to difficult. There are only a few black diamond sections of the trail, but they will make you work and you may end up winching if you don’t have lockers and it is wet and it usually is in Oregon. The trail cuts through the state forest and the area is heavily wooded. The tough sections are rock with loose boulders. A stock Jeep can traverse most of the trail, but not all.
Eventually it hooks up with Fire Break 5 and drops down into Brows Camp. FB5 has a great rock crawling section that the forest service built along side the trail. They have piled up rocks for you to crawl on. They are graduated, so it is easy at first and it gradually getts bigger the higher up you go. You can always bail out to the side if it starts getting too big.
There is camping at ether end of the trail. Browns Camp on the east and Jordan Creek on the west.
There are several other 4x4 trails to explore in the area, but we think this is one of the best trails in TSF.
