Purchase
A few months after purchasing my XJ, I decided I wanted to upgrade with a locker in the rear D44. I started shopping for an automatic locker that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I looked over several “lunchbox” type lockers that would fit right into my open D44 carrier. After researching the common names like Lock-Right and quick-loc, I decided to put my money on a new brand, the Aussie Locker. The low price of 230 dollars along with Bill Cole’s great customer service finished the deal. Ordering and shipping went smooth. I received my locker in less than a week.

Install
I’m not going into any details on the install. I will say though, the Aussie Locker came with detailed and easy to follow instructions. The install was painless and only took an afternoon at an easy pace.

On Road Performance
Shortly after wrapping up the install we jumped in for an initial test drive. Making the sharp turn out of the driveway I was expecting to hear the locker's ratcheting operation. What I heard was surprisingly very little noise at all. This thing is seriously quiet. The locker operation is very smooth on the road and highway. Gripping and slipping around turns just as it should with very little noise and no jerking or backlash at all. After 6 months driving it, I’m very comfortable on the street and actually rarely notice it’s even there.

Off-Road Performance
I have to say off-road is where it really shines. It performs flawlessly just as described by the manufacturer. We tested it in tight spots with switchbacks and found it smoothly transfers between locked and unlocked just like on the road. Then put it through all types of conditions… snow, ice, mud, rock, and loose debris. We lifted tires and loaded the axle with steep hill climbs. We crawled over ledges and logs with no problems at all. The Aussie Locker has helped take my XJ to the next level!

Overall
I am 100% satisfied with this product. Aussie Locker has combined competitive price and great customer service with a product that rocks off-road and is barely noticeable on the street. I would recommend this product for sure.
