The US. toyota 4 speed is 3.5 to 1 in 1st gear. That would be the only con that I can think of is your crawl ratio would'nt be very low; if your concerned with that kind of thing.

I got my cruiser all wired and guages, starter, header, motor mount, and leaky gaskets installed so I should be able to start on that this week. I'll try to get down there on your days off.

OK I think we are doing the trans swop so I'll be here  ..

I just want to go with the 4-speed so I'll look for a sm420 or 65 later the auto runs to hot for my liking with the 36's and like MW said If your bat, go's bad you can still starte your rig and for a better crawl...

Don't know what one it is but i think i'll like it better  .. I do know the sm465 is stronger but the 420 has a better crawl ratio.

I'm guessing you have the H41 which I think is the only one they put in the US models. It's the same one Mwilley has in his cruiser. I think the best thing would be to find a 5 speed.

I dont know how much that over drive is, and I am thinking it might be pretty expensive, but you can get a Non-USA toyota 5-speed with a 5 to 1 first gear for $1,000 from Man-a-fre. You will also need a bell housing, but it uses the same advanced adapters bell housing as the 4-speed.

I think the SM465 will be fine. I believe first gear is 6.5 to 1 instead of 7 to 1 with the SM420. I do know that the SM465 shifts better, which is why I would recommend that one.

Man, I am working really hard. I drive around for 8 hours a day and the pay me for it. Sometimes I get to put the 2007 Chevy 3/4 Ton Diesel in 4x4. On occasion I put it in 4x4 Low. It is pretty easy with just a touch of the ol' button...but if my work asks you, then tell them I work really hard....
