unloading torsion bars

torsion bars were supposed to slide forward but years of rust and road grime wouldnt allow it so i had to remove the crossmember
Posted Image

crossmember re bolted

reloading torsion bars (scary). new keys had more preload so i used a ball joint press

Yeah, looks great. Now for some more respectable meats. Who needs all that gas mileage anyway?

lol in town i was only getting about 10-11 anyway. im, going to play around with the adjuster bolts a little to see if i can soften up the ride. i also see shocks in my near future since i lost a lot of my rebound on the front. overall im pretty happy with the look of it. i cant wait to get my new tires.

well, i backed off on the adjuster bolts (they were cranked to the same position as stock) and i regained a lot of ride quality. i still hit the end of the shocks travel on the rebound though. other than that it feels almost stock.

heres my latest modification
http://www.fordf150.net/articles/idx.php/0...dification.html

i do notice a difference. the truck had more punch when getting on the freeway and when passing. i also like the fact that i can go back to stock at any time if i decide i dont like it
