Well I picked up a 75 Chevy for $300. It has a 14 bolt rear and a dana 44 front. It also hase a 6 inch suspension lift as well as a 3 inch body lift. So far I have stripped the bed down to bare metal and paint it with rhino-liner. My brother in law is redoing the wood bed for me with oak. Also just picked up a sm465,205 transfer case and drivelines for $250 as well. So I'm stuck looking for a 454 to stick under the hood. As soon as I get the rear of the truck done then I'll pull off the front to get started their. I just have a few questions. I can't decide if I want to buy a painless wirering kit to re wire the truck while I'm at it. I'm waiting on my rear flip shackle kit to come in, new cab corner and floor panels as well. I hope to get this project done around mid April.. Will post pics when I find my cable for the camarea.

I rewired mine with a Painless kit. Even though it was a while ago and my memory just can't sustain that kind of thing too long, I am happy knowing exactly what's wired where.

It was fairly easy. Get a good set of wire strippers and a good supply of terminals and solder and shrinkwrap. I know I should have gotten a heat-shrink gun, but I instead bought a year's supply of butane lighters.

Take your time. I think you'll be glad you rewired it.

I found this one on ebay and was wondering if this one would work as well its only 179 vs. the 457 on painless. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/21-Wiring-h...sQ5fAccessories

or would this one be enough

I think the Painless Wiring Harness is overpriced. I liked the EZ & painless brand RW used, bout half the price and he got (IIRC) a 21 circuit while I got (from Painless) a 12 circuit and buddy 12 circuits ain't enough. Both harnesses have printed identification on each wire as to where it goes which, for me, was a really good thing.

RW and I rewired my rig a few hours a night after work for a week or two. We were constantly laughing at the "painlessness" advertised. Wiring is always a pain for me. I'm glad I did it though.

Well I picked up my sm465 and 205 yesterday from Orland. They are 32 spline and in goos shape. I was thinking about doing a twin stick to the np205. So i could have low rear wheel drive or for tight turning on the trail i could pull the ebrake and just use front wheel drive, Does anyone have any advice on this. I want to do the dual transfer case setup, but don't have the money for that yet.

For a twin-stick option, see
http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/trans...aseshifters.htm

I highly recommend Off Road Design. They're GM specialists, and Steven Watson and his dad are great fellers to wheel with. They can hook you up with parts and know-how. They're also the guys to talk to about a dual transfer case setup.

Keep the updates coming!

I've got a 465 tranny, 205 and 203 transfer cases, but what holds me up is the $770 adapter! ouch

Yea I saw the twin stick on ord, but I found a kit from noavk for $150. I ordered it sat, so I should have it tues or weds. It cam with new shift rail and the twin sticks as well.. I need to find my camera, so I can post some pics of it up. I'm almost done with the rear of the truck. I painted the bed and stripped the frame. As soon as I get it painted I will take the front clip off, get it painted and then get ready for the bbc to go in it..

did you file the hoohaa off the shifting thingy in the 205 so it'd shift power to the front only?

so you don't need to do that if you buy the new rails? I understood the dohickey to be filed was indside the case and the shift caught on it... The new rails must be machined to miss the dohickey.

I found it, it's a pin between the shifting rails you have to take out when you put in the new twin stick rails. But don't forget to put back the detent balls and springs.

Could ya keep me posted on this, I'd like to know how it goes.

Yes I will and there is two pins one on each shift rail that has to be removed. It looks Like a straight forward install, will good directions as wel.. I will keep you updated unless you want to come over when I do it to watch.
