Well, i just acquired a 1986 ford f150 for free. It was given to me by a family friend who said the fuel filter went out 4 years ago and then just parked it. It's been sitting outside since then. I will have it here at the house prob thurs but wondering what you guys would suggest about getting this thing running again.
Obviously im going to replace the fuel filter, change all the fluids, plugs and battery, but what about the wheel bearings ect.? Is there anything else that i should be concerned about before trying to drive this thing around and causing more problems for myself?

I'd suggest getting rid of all the gas before you turn it over. Old/bad gas has caused me a lot of headaches over the years.
It clogs up the carb/fuel injection real quick.

i would suggest to disconnect the fuel lines and force feed the motor with gas to see if it will run because they all were running great when they were parked being a mechanic i always here that was nothing wrong when they park them.you might also ask them if the last time it was smogged did it pass without any hassles those cats are expensive upwards of about 700.00 good luck hope everything is great.keep us posted

well i got this thing running a few weeks ago and its been running fine since. it turned out that the problem was all in the fuel system. the inertia switch was bad, had to replace the fuel filter and then dropped the forward fuel tank and replaced the pump in there. Im pretty sure the rear tank pump is bad too but ill just use the forward tank till that happens.
have not taken it to smog yet because i have to replace the entire exhaust system. that will have to wait till next payday. ill post up some pics of the freebie soon....
