Well guys i need some help!
The wifes 99 Expedition had a problem with the multi function switch, (turn signal/wipers/hi beems) The handle was so sensitve that the Hi-beems would turn on at any time. (Bumps in the road or when she would signal for a turn). During the last rain the wipers started to act up by shutting off when she would make a right hand turn.
So i replaced the switch with a new one.It works fine, but now the wipers will stay on when activated and do not shut of untill i turn the ignition off or disconnect the the battery and reconnect the battery. It will stay off untill they are turned on and will not shut off untill the battery is disconnected.
( none of the intermitent positions work either )
My Chiltons is usless for this problem and was wondering if someone can make some suggestions. I am not sure what it could be, Gen module if it does control them, the new wiper switch, or if there is a seperate module or electronic control device .
Maybe Predator or someone else might be of some help for me. :wallbash:
Thanks.

OK I found a few possibilities...1st off there seems to be an original style multi-function switch and an updated version...Im sure this only applies to dealer parts, so if you bought it aftermarket who knows? There is also a wiper high/low relay and a wiper park/run relay in the battery junction box...and those are controlled by the GEM (generic electronic module) But looking at the wiring diagram, I would think that your problems would be from a bad switch...more to the point, when you turn it off there should be a connection to the park section of the switch and if there isnt it will never stop until the power is removed from the park/run relay...I would also wonder when you do get them to stop, do they stop where they were or do they park in the down position when you turn the key back on?? Considering it is a new symptom with the new part I would say its a safe bet...you might look into something about that updated version of the switch through the dealer also... its not really clear in my articles about it, but this should be the part number YL1Z13K359AAA

GOOD LUCK!

I know there is a couple switches out there that all look the same but are a little different. Do you still have you old one?

also where did you get the switch from. if you got it from ford I can check at work and verify that you got the right one if needed.

 Thanks for the info guys, it has been a big help. The part i have now was ordered on line. I guess i will go to the dealership today and order the part from them.
This is what i got on line and installed. http://www.partspros.com/7001551.html
It is almost 1/2 what the dealership wants.
I will let you know if it works, hope that it is the wrong part & not the gem module.
Just don`t know what else it could be!
