I thought I would post up an official thread for this build. It started in mid 2008 when i decided that My SWB leaf sprung patrol could not cut it in winch challenges and that it would be better to build a new truck on a different chassis.
The truck is based on a SWB GQ Patrol but is heavily modified, Below is a list of the basic specs.

SWB Nissan GQ patrol chassis
Wheel base extended 8" to 102" by extended rear trailing arms and spacing from diff forward 1"
Custom rear trailing arms made my Flamin Fabrications
2dextreme front radius arms
FOA 12" R/R Coilovers on each corner, with 12" FOA smoothies on the front to give a twin shock set up, Fox bump stops on the front and FOA bump stops on the rear.
LWB GQ body converted to an extra cab
Warn 8274 high mount winch modified by flaming fabrications to include 14" drum with pneumatic freespool and twin warn 6hp XP motors.
600hp 383 chev
5 speed GQ Patrol manual gearbox
GQ patrol diffs with Cal offroad chromoly CV's
Front and rear ARB airlockers
Hella Rallye 4000 lights

Over the next week I will update this thread to where I am currently at and then as i progress

Crower mechanical roller lifters
Custom billet camshaft
Yellow Terra billet flywheel

The suspension on this truck is designed to go hard and fast on any surface. Not being made of money i have decided to try a new product on the market, FOA shocks. From first glance they appear to look the good for the money.

Here are a few pics of parts to get you going... still waiting on a few parts to come from Australia

The Front shocks set up (This is one corner only)

Rear shock set up (again this is one corner only)

The body choice has only recently been decided on. It was a toss up between a GU or GQ patrol. In the end I have chosen to go for the classic winch truck look and am using a GQ body. Although I don't own one yet I am in the final stages of buying a body from Australia that has already been chopped.

Here are the pics

Here is the basic sign writing design, there will be a few changes like size of logos etc (the designer mixed up who was the main sponsor..)

the AFR heads cost e $2800NZ
The Patrol diffs are really strong and I shouldn't have a problem with the rear axle. My only issue will be with the CV's and hubs. I wil be upgrading to Cal Offroad CV's which should take care of that problem. Cal guarantees that these CV's will not break even in competition, if they do he will replace them. So I am only left with hubs, which are an easy fix....
