Well right now my blazer is basically stock. It is sitting on 33's and has ok clearance. I would like to put 35's on it but i have to lift it. I am trying to decide between a 3 inch body lift or a 4 inch suspension lift. I was also thinking about doing a little fender trimming, has anyone done this on theirs. I cut the fenders on my xj but im not quite sure how to go about it on a blazer. Any input?

Heres a pic of how it sits now...

Go with the 4"
Body lift will cause other issues. Sure the 4" will cause some other things to be mod'ed but your ana see more flex.
Useless text that your reading for at least the first time.

IMHO a suspension lift is always better if your after frame clearance.

With a body lift, the only added frame clearance is the tire size difference. From 33s to 35s this is only 1 inch. (half the diameter difference)

With suspension, the frame goes up the amount of the lift plus the tire diff. In this case 5 inches.

I had a 86 K5 before with a 4 inch suspension lift and if I remember correctly I had 35s with no fender trimming necessary.

I run 35's on my Scout with very little rub at full stuff. It is spring over with a reverse shackle front and slightly longer than stock shackles, stock springs.

Your stock suspension isn't much different than my mod'd stuff. Lift springs alone would probly be enough, or shackles, or both. Brake lines, pinion angles and drive shaft lengths are the only real issues to deal with.

Suspension lift good, body lift bad.

Note the front tire bareley touches the rear of the front fender.

Off the cuff....

I thought the suspension lift would be a much better choice and you guys confirmed that, so thanks for the info on that.... As far as the fender trimming goes i was looking at that for more of a cosmetic alteration. I know 35's will fit with a 4 inch lift, but i was thinking i could do something to give it a little different look and trim the fenders.

Or you could go with both lift's and run 37's or 38's.
what we used to do is on the front fenders we would cut the bottom of the front of the fender off keeping enough material to leave the wheel opening looking stock and roll the edges under. on the back of the front fender we would cut a wedge out of it and weld the wheel opening a little further back to open the wheel opening. it's easyer to show you rather than explain it
(Caution) I have an 05 wrangler and I'm not afraid to use it

I have had numerous k5's and yes with 4inch lift you can fit them but offroad it will take a fender or two out or cut your tires up.. I would go with the 4 inch and some fender trimming and you would be good or you could get a 6 inch. But i would rather have the biggest tire i could have with low center of gravity..

That was exactly my thought. There is alot of places i go that i need a low center of gravity and if it was much taller than a 4 inch lift it just wouldn't fit. I think i got an idea on what im going to do. But if anyone wants to help me out on how to trim these fenders that would be apreciated.
