Well I bought this thing back in '99 from my boss right after I started working at the shop...I drove it for a couple of years and it was just falling apart...it had a bad brake booster, a broken steering coupler, bad brake rotors and several other small problems...so in 2001 it got pushed into the bushes and put in the back of my mind...Well recently we went to the car show in Fortuna and I was inspired to pull it back out to build a Rat Rod out of it since this thing is perfect for it...the trunk lid is completely rusted out so its going to take some creativity to fix it and getting a new one seems to be impossible...I did manage to get a new brake booster, and I rebuilt the steering coupler...Im trying to work a deal for some used rotors on eBay(I found new ones for $150 each ouch!)...It has required a lot of vacuuming of rat nests and some re-wiring some chewed wires and cleaning up some coroded connections, etc. etc....But at this point it is just about ready to drive and fortunately it has been on non-op the whole time so registration is only $54...but it will be getting a flat black paint job and lots of skulls and stuff...Well anyway I will keep you up on the progress... :headbanger:

The ultimate gangster car! :headbanger:

You might be able to find a trunk lid for that monster up here. There's a yard out on 299 east across the hwy from Simpson U. That guy has a pretty good selection of old iron.

Progress Report...I have since got new tires put on it...found some rotors on autotrader and installed them...I was told they were pulled off a wreck in 1974 and had been on a shelf since then...the thickness measured out at new so they are basically new rotors...I got both of them shipped to the shop for $126...It will be needing a couple of window motors but that is optional at this point...I have ordered a new center link, idler arm and some brake hoses...It has a new dual exhaust system with polished magna flows and old school chrome tips pointing straight back (perfect for flame throwers hint, hint!)...and the flat black paint job is under way...this thing is so big I have to do it in sections so right now the right side and the roof are done and tonight we will be shooting the left side...the trunk has been patched together with some pressure treated 2x4's, expanding foam, fiberglass and bondo...It wont be pretty but it will have a trunk lid!! Anyway I will post some pics soon and it will be cruising in town for the holiday weekend!!

Alright...It is just about done at this point...It now has the new brake hoses, 1 new window motor so all of the front windows are functional, the rears dont matter anymore with the tinting on them...oh yeah the windows are tinted! LOL ...umm whatelse?...idler arm and drag link are in...changed all of the the fluids...new motor mounts, fan clutch, new exaust gaskets, a pair of "OOOOOGA" horns, and a firey surprise in the exaust! :headbanger: Im sure theres a few other little things but whats it matter? This thing drives and runs like a dream now! So today we took it, along with my truck, to the Durham Harvest Vestival car show...The pair of them sure get a lot of attention!...Anyway just thought I would give an update because I saw this thread and had forgot about it...I am in the middle of getting a video together so you will see the progress soon (Maybe tonight)!

When you are playing with your "Fire", does your MPG go to a nagative number????
