I decided to try and run this winter and not park the buggy. You may have read the Noverber 1st run didnt go well. But, I learned what I need to saty dry.
I think I have my water/mud issue solved!!!
I started with chest waders, added a PVC rain coat, insulated rubber gloves, and a full face helmet. With the helmet put on over the rain coat's hood up and cinched (not like the pic), I'm sealed up pretty good!!! :headbanger:
I suited up and headed to the same vacant lot where my jump video was taken. (Churn Creek & Mistletoe in Redding) There is a large puddle "lake" there about 100' across and 18+" deep. I got there just as it was getting dark. (and cold) The idea was to test warmth as well.
I started out slow and got braver as the suit held up. Finally I decided to "go for it"!!!
I backed up to get as much of a run as posible...and hit the gas!!! Until then I had never seen a wall of water up close!! I hit the water at about 20 mph and the wave produced by the front axle going under was intense and completely covered the buggy and I. At this point I let off the gas cause all I could see was water!!! I came to a stop just past halfway through the "lake" and after the adrenaline laughter died down I realized...WOW...I am still DRY!!! :headbanger:
Now...I have hit water like this in a truck and even a small car...BUT...being able to power this much water in the buggy is completely different and ALLOT more fun!!!!
The final test for today was the drive back to the house. After plowing through all that water I decided to jump on the freeway!! By now its completely dark and a little windy. I hit the freeway and got her up to about 60 and WOW again...Im still not cold!!!
So now I am ready for a real world test if anyone wants to go out this weekend somewhere close to Redding. Maybe Lakehead? I will start a new thread for that tomorrow after I figure out what day I'm free.
