As some of you might know I picked up another FJ40.this one is bone stock with the original F145 in it ,3 on the tree. The plan is to do a SBChev swap, either a 700r or a 465 and i am leaning towards a 205 t/c.If I do that I will go with a mini rear axle.Wanting to make this one a little more road friendly.
Picked up Dino's blazer for the 350TBI(thanks Bryan) and it does have the 700r also.so the parts scroungeing has begun:)motor and harness should get pulled this weekend.this will not be a quick build..lol

One good thing about running that 205 tc is you can do away with the rear drive-line and hook it up direct.

it will have a pretty short rear driveshaft.will probably extend the rear wheel base some to help.I have been disasembling it this week some, top's off ,front clip is off,got the bumper and steering pivot off and new plate for the saginaw power steering welded on the front of the frame.also been sanding on it to get rid of the "Barney" color.will take some pics when it gets light out

a 1 7/8 in adapter and cut 3/8in off the output shaft of the 700.was a pain finding bolts and studs as it is metric on the tranny.a 205 never came bolted to a 700r

Last night, looking at that first bumper pic on my phone, I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Looks better on the big screen!

Looking forward to seeing you test that bumper on a convenient rock ledge!

yea i want to try and radius the gussets.so with 1/2 in on the outside of the frame for the bumper mounting brackets and 3/8 welded on the inside for the power steering gear box do you still think i need to sleeve the frame were the bolts go through for the steering gear box?

Last night, looking at that first bumper pic on my phone, I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
tried to take a pic to show the bumper angleing back in towards the tire
