I have seen someone put a Vet motor into a S10 and was wondering if anyone has ever seen a Vet motor in a Cherokee?

ANYTHING is possible. Chevs are nice because parts are so readily available. Pick the engine and pick the chassis. We can make it happen. Its easier than you might think.

Not the greatest picture, but that is a Chevy 454 in a CJ7 for a little more giddyup-n-go!

That would be an interesting swap. I have a buddy that put an 350 TBI(Throttle Body Injection) motor in his S-10 4x4 and since the transmission and most of the electrical were the same he was able to do it in a couple Sundays.

That was a pretty cool swap. That something I'd be interested in the future. By the time I get 33s or bigger I'm going to want more power. I'd really like something small like a 302 or a chevy 283. The extra torque down low would be nice.

I always forget that I could stroke out my 4.0 and get closer to a V8, but it's just not the same. The 318 I had in my ZJ was nice, I bet I could pick one of those up fairly cheap...
I drive an 87' XJ.

A friend of mine here in SC had a "hot" 304 in his CJ, that thing would almost hop when you got on it out of the hole. I figured he was only pushing about 300 to 325 horses, this fuel injected vette motor should have better than 350.
I think it needs some paddle tires.

I know it can be done, and I could probably help you do it if you ever decide to, however, I personally wouldn't go with a corvette engine.

It sounds great, and the V-8 would pump out more power than your 4.0 obviously, but I'd go with a fuel injected 383 stroker with slightly smaller heads than the corvette for more torque where you need it, or a ford 351 cause they can be stroked to a 427 and ford cranks are stronger than chevy cranks.

When my dad built his chevy 400 SB the first thing we were told by everyone was get rid of the stock crank because they twist off under high power conditions. Also his is carbed, but thats changing next summer hopefully. also consider the loss in gas mileage, I know Onk just got a new engine, so I doubt he's still considering this anytime soon, but your probably doing a little better than my dad's 10mpg in his land cruiser, BUT, I'm sure that thing could do wheelies when we put a stronger T-case in it :headbanger:

Oh yea, my dad's cruiser is a 70 so it's smog exempt also. They do make some torquey 350 and 383 smog legal turn key engines though.

318 out of a ZJ would probably be your best bet for passing smog

Jeeps have plenty of room from side to side and evn more room from front to back in the engine compartment. An inline 6 is much longer than a V-8 and longer thans a BBC.

But if you wanna save some penies, go look for a Z28 motor out of the same year of motor you want. (Pssssttt There the same thing, just cost less. )
