Ok everyone, I thought I would start a thread for my samurai buildup. As you all know, This is bryotas old samurai.. here are some specs (please correct me if i'm wrong)

1986 Samurai, 4.9 T-case, welded f/r stock samurai axles, Trail tough xover steering, toyota springs, 33" MTR's, a monster exhaust :P

Now, I can't post pictures of it right now, as i don't want any tears coming from people (The thing is HACKED). Now the concept i am going for now, is i am using 3 donor samurais to create a samurai "Pickup truck". Its very hard to explain I will have to draw a picture and scan it. I will be using Petroworks aluminum dash painted to match the color of the samurai. I will also be putting a new tub as the rockers and the body is pretty hammered (Thanks to bryota haha).

On wednesday I will be picking up my 79 Wagoneer Dana 44's in modesto for $350 for the set. Now I have been doing hours of research on Pirate4x4, Zuwharrie, and ZukiKrawlers.com to find out how to mount the 44's, and what problems I will encounter. Now I have learned that the front springs have to be moved outward 1.5", and the rear can stay in their location, but the perches must be moved on both axles.

Now for the suspension setup I am going for, I want to have a vehicle that is ready to wheel, and if i have to upgrade be down for only a short period of time. With that said I plan to use the springs that are already on the samurai, but will extend the rear frame 20"+ to move the axle back until I can afford and gain the knowledge on how to build a 3-link(unless someone wants to help me). On the front I will be using old Rancho 5000's that were on my 94 f250 with a 6" lift, i figure with a little samurai it should provide plenty of travel, and with the added weight of body armor, it shouldn't be too stiff.

This will be my official buildup thread where I will be coming to give information, and most importantly get information. If you have any suggestions, answers, wisdom, critiques, bashing, please post it up. thanks! Oh and by the way, This project HAS to be decently driveable by 4th of July for our rubicon trip we are planning.

The frame was already extended when Bryon had it. If you go another 20 inches you'll be in 2 different time zones.

With measuring the frame isn't as extended as i thought. Its only extended a couple inches in the rear to accomodate the longer springs and a wee bit in the front. Now, I intend to go for a 105" wheelbase, where as it sits now its somewhere around 87". So a pretty big frame extention is necessary.

If it'll help, I have a Scout II frame I'll sell pretty cheap. It's 105" wb and should accomodate Waggy axles without having to move perches or hangers. Its also set up for a bolt-on 4-link. PM me if you're interested and we can work something out.
