what caused the problem the timing chain guids worn worn out and fell apart wich derailed the timing chain :dead: Posted Image

and when the timing chain broke it got bound up in the bottom and cracked the timing cover Posted Image

the bottem end is all put back together now with a good timing cover i ended up using matts head off his old celica engine (GOOD THING YOU GUYS DECIDED TO KEEP IT :bowdown: ) im just waiting on the head to get resurfaced from napa should get it back monday or tuesday AND I SHOULD HAVE IT BACK TOGETHER MID WEEK IF THE WEATHER HOLDS OUT :headbanger:

Good work though. Did poor lubrication cause the guide to wear too quickly or is that a common weaklink?

WOW (w00t) To me it looks like the chain could be off of a bicycle. I am suprised that Toyota would do that. My old Nissan had what you may call a double roller chain ( 2 rollers, side by side with srocket teeth side by side) I guess with all the high miles that are on theToyota engines, it must hold up very well.

it bent one valve and broke another valve stem so thats why i used the head of there old celice engine :thumbsup: and its geting a resurface and new guide seals :thumbsup:
