I believe he needs to get the knuckle off his old axle.
I have no idea what "front clips" are, but I'm a Chevy ignoramus so my not knowing is not a huge revelation.

if its just a knuckle, then loosen both ball joints.
the steering arm, is very hard to get off. those conical washers are a pain. i had to soak mine with pg blaster, several times thoughout the day, then held the knuckle in my left hand up side down and beat the bootom of the arm with a 4lb hammer, sounds brutal, but the arm was still good. there is no easy way, sorry. get new conical washers and bolts, at least i would.

fishontro is right..
Soak the nuts and studs real good with a penatating oil and the take off the nuts and soak them again.
Turn the wheel left so you can smack the side of the steering arm at the base with a BFH as hard as you can. Little by little you will see the cone shaped washers start to come up the studs a little... sometimes you can put a small slotted screw driver in the slit and unscrew the washer up the stud to remove them, if not just keep hitting the steering arm till they jump out of the holes.
The first time I did mine I beat it for 15 minutes before they finally jumped out.
Good luck..
