I've had it with having to take out a 2nd mortgage to get enough gas to go wheelin, a sami seems to ne the solution to that problem, what I need to know, is what the best year to look for is, and what to look out for. I may have a line on one for free, but it needs a tranny, I'm not sure about the year of it, or the condition, but free is always good, we'll see.

I don't really mean it, but it's a chance to be a smart-aleck: how much gas could you buy for what the Sami will cost you?

:P

I'm trying to get a stock Carter carb for my '81 Wag with the 258 so I can smog and register it...what's your gas mileage right now (as in, what can I expect with mine)?

I get ~15 near as I can tell, with Leroy and the Buick... :read:

Benzuki has a 93. It has a solid front axle but no power steering. That trany thing must be a weakness because some of the gears just went out off his. Most people that have sami's that I know seem to toyotaize them.

So now that I think about it thats probly not much help.

i think its 91 and newer thats fuel injected there harder to come by
the 88 and later have a lower 5 th gear kinda helps with speeds on the hwy
you should be able to find a good running stocker for under $1500 and a somewhat built one for under $2500
i would get the free one eather way for parts
these little rigs stock go more places than any other stock vehical ive ever driven :D
to many projects and not enough time or To much time and not enough money.

Benzuki has a '91 and a '93 that he got for pretty good prices. He got the '91 for $1000 and it came with Toyota Axles and Leaf Springs....Personally I wouldn't want one older than a '91
