We trailered the cruiser into town on Friday to get it inspected by the DMV. The cruiser will also go into Elliots Garage on Monday to get exaust run and then we will start getting the fuel injection on. It was driven up on the trailer.

That is the best mod thus far...100% Waterproof Polyurethan...in case you get into a situation where you might be a little scared...you have protection against the "elements" for your seats

I got the exaust on today. It sounds a little better now. I don't have any pics but those of you that have cruisers just look underneath yours. If you don't have a Landcruser that you will have to use your imagenation.

A little update on thing we were able to get accomplished this week.

Throttle Body is locked and loaded:Attached Image: monthly_11_2007/post-311-1195962244.jpg

Ordered a conversion kit from Downey Off-Road to convert the Toyota E-Locker into a Toyota Cable Locker. They only had one in stock by the other is on the way. Here is the picture of what it looks like on the diff:Attached Image: monthly_11_2007/post-311-1195962299.jpg
The lever is mounted under the drivers seat. Another lever will be installed on the left side. The elockers give the ability for a light to be mounted on the dash to let you know when the locker is engaged:Attached Image: monthly_11_2007/post-311-1195962275.jpg
An updated pic of what the cruiser is looking like:Attached Image: monthly_11_2007/post-311-1195962323.jpg

We took it for a spin today, but hit a snag when some excessive noise could be heard in the transmission/transfercase/gear box combo...just when you think you are almost done

I think I narrowed it down to the Advance Adapter gear box or the Bearing in the top of the T-case. I hope its the bearing cause thats the easiest to get to. I'm not looking forward in taking everything apart.

I just got off the phone with rwilley and he has concluded that it has something to do with the PTO. He thinks that the PTO gear might have been binding causing some noise when it was turning fast. The PTO gear is running off the output shaft of the gear box which means it turns even when the transfer case is in neutral.

Apparently puting silicone to seal the pto onto the transfercase was'nt enough. The gear in the t-case and the gear in the pto were binding because they were to close together. (I wish I would have figured this out before I installed them in the cruiser  . Anyway I made a gasket out of thick gasket material and put it all back together and Wa-La no noise and no vibes.

Problem solved

sounds like you didnt have to pull the Tcase atleast.so have you tried out the low crawl ratio with the rock box yet?

So is this right for the crawl ratio?

1st gear x T-case low x Rock Box x Diff
3.55 x 1.992 x 3.44 x 3.70 = 90:1

If it is, it gives you a nice selection of crawl ratios:

unless they have 4:11s I thought you had a better 1st gear then 3.55?and if it is an older tcase then 2:31?

We are using the toyota four speed tranny so it is 3.55...we are not using the 3.70s we have. The FJ80 axles came with 4.10's, not 4.11's. So that should lower it a bit. We are also using the 4-speed case that is 1.99:1

Tranny T-Case Rock Box Diff Crawl Ratio
3.55 1.992 3.44 4.10 99.74

I'm thinking that 100-1 should be slow enough too. And with all the other gear combo's there should be plenty of gear selections for what I do.

Yep, 100:1 will be all you need. I'm at 134:1, but most of the time I use 2nd gear so it's 70:1.
