I was looking into the pricing of an adapter for the SM420 to the toyota transfer, and it is $500, while you can get the rock box from them for $950 and takes the place of an adapter and you get the extra gear box. If you already have the bellhousing for the 350 to SM465 you only need to get the rock box and then stick it up in there. BTW the rock box is cheaper for the SM420 than it is for the Toyota 4-Speed and SM465. I think the SM465 1st gear is 6.55:1.
(Tranny 6.55:1, Rock Box 3.44:1, Transmission 2.31:1, Diff 4.11:1=213.92:1 Crawl Ratio)

I picked up the whole drive train out of a chev truck,350,clutch,bellhousing,tranny,205 tranfer. If i ever put this in I will probably go with the rock box.unless i run across a 420 for a decent price.already have someone wanting to buy the tranny off me.defently will be wanting to see this in action when you guys get it going :headbanger:

read somewere that you can put a bellhousing from a 465 on to a 420 and just have the the center hole machined larger...guess the bearing retainer is larger on a 420...but all the blot holes line up.would think it would be easier to find a 465 bellhousing(i have 2)have a lead on a 420with bellhousing/adapter to 3sp case and case for a pretty good price

A little update on this project. We got the FJ60 Front Axle mounted to the cruiser. Last week rwilley got the high steer, bearings and knuckle assembly together. We welded the ARP studs to the passanger side nuckle, this will stop the studs from working loose. On Saturday, using the tractor, we flipped the frame right-side up, so now it is sitting on all four tires. The measurement from the center of the frame to the floor of the shop is 28 inches. Awaiting a transfer case seal from Specter Off-Road, along with a clutch; the 4-Bolt Main 350 will be ready to mount to the Toyota 4-Speed-3.44:1 AA Rock Box-FJ40 4-Speed Transfer Case. I will see about taking my camera up next time I head home and getting some pictures.

I clarify a little bit, the cruiser is 28" from the ground to the bottom of the frame; in the center of the vehicle

Those are 35x12.50's that we had on the grey cruiser for a while...they are going to get changed, but not right now.

The springs have a pretty good arch to them now so I figure with the engine, trans, tranfer case and tub I should get almost the 4 inches I need to make it street legal.
