Time for a little bit of an update.

I am currently not happy with the performance of the Holley 2D Pro-Jection kit, so I am collecting parts to put Chevy TBI. My cruiser is also a OSRV (Oil Supply Restoration Vehicle), and I have been having trouble overheating driving down the road. This lead me to purchase a 1988 Chevy pickup, where I plan to use the Fuel Injection System and have the engine rebuilt. This leads me to a couple of questions for the general public. Has anyone done a swap similar to this? Anything I should know before I move further down this road? I am planning on getting rid of all the emissions stuff of the engine, so I am going to need a new chip for the computer. I am also going to be switching over to the serpentine belt system, where I am going to need to mount the York Compressor, by either purchasing a mount or making a mount. I am also probably going to get a wiring harness, as I would like to start with new wiring.

This is the latest project. I put a '69 bottom on a '79 top. This was so I would have the two parking lights that I use as turn signals. The '79 has a square'ish' bezel that I like, so I have a nice chrome one that I will put on. To my knowledge, I am the only one that has done this so far. FJ40 Rob is going to do some body work, then I will put it on.

With the large amount of resources the engine swap took, I have been slowly working on getting some problems worked out. We had to work on getting the alternator to charge, getting the P/S cool mounted into place, hooking up the 210 York into my current system, and some other minor problems. I had an issue with having the wrong dip stick, and on my first real run I was blowing oil out of the front of the engine because it was too full. Got that problem fixed the next week. I also blew a cheap airline I got from the hardware store on the Christmas tree run we took a couple weeks ago. I ended up getting a power steering return line to run from my York to the air cleaner. On the Christmas Tree run I noticed I didn't seem to have the power I should. We looked at the gas pedal and noticed that we were only getting 2/3 throttle. We ended up adapting the FJ62 throttle to work on my FJ40. I have plenty of throttle now, which is a lot different. I was able to drive my land cruiser to work last week, and was surprised how well it did. I noticed a little bit of burned oil smell when my RPM's were getting higher. After doing a little bit of research I concluded that the PCV valve was not adequate for my engine, so I put the original PCV valve on. I am going to test it tomorrow, but driving it around today makes me think I might have solved that issue. I am looking forward to finally getting to go on some runs and not have to work on it for a while.

Sounds like your making some good progress. When I get my 60 registered and all legal, I'll follow you on some "mild" runs until I get aussie's in the rear and ARB'd up front.

I think you can pretty much follow us anywhere in the snow. You would have the same track as I have and you wouldn't be dragging so much.
