That's the sickest Explorer I've ever seen. Hope to wheel with you one of these days!

Thanks Eric!

I'm hoping to have it done soon. Just need some 4.88s and lockers. :P Definitely have it ready by snowfall! I'm going to run it on 36s or 37s in the winter though. :cool2: I'm definitely down for some runs.

It's a little sad reading this thread from 2006 saying that I would be done with this thing soon. :( :whistling: It's been nearly three years and not a whole lot has happened. But hopefully that is changing.

So this is where I was when I left off.

It won't take very many pictures to get you guys up to date.

So I installed the 4.88s and an ARB in the front:
Posted Image

Then I got the front winch mount done, winch installed, along with shackles:

And within the last couple weeks I got some 14" Fox shocks which required me to break out the new bender (bought in early '08, used for the first time last weekend) and make some new shock hoops:

Which brings us to today.

I've been doing some sheet metal adjustments while I wait for the Pro Tools notcher to come in that I ordered.

Here we are making room for a rear bumper.

Hopefully next weekend I'll have the shock hoops and engine cage done. Then soon after that will be the bumpers and cage. If you don't see me update this thread soon... somebody come kick me.

That looks cool. Will you have it wrap around to the rear wheel wells?

Yeah similar to this but with larger tube and closer to the rear hatch.

Billy - That's actually what that little black thing is in the center. Not that I'll every be towing anything... but I'm sure it would come in handy for something. Like a hitch mounted bbq grill!

A thought I stole, was to use pipe (you say you have a bender?) for bumpers/puch bar etc and use it for an air tank. It hasn't gone beyond a thought.

Okay, I found a very recent picture of the front which shows the winch all tucked away and the shackles.

So I decided to PhotoChop fab up my idea for the bumper.

Like all my other parts.. I've had those Pro Comp Stainless lights in a box in the garage for mooooonths. They need a bumper to mount to.. soon. :(

I'm glad I found this thread!!

Great looking rig, your work looks thought out and then done very well.

As soon as you get it going, let me know how the Pro Comp's do. I've had mine protected by a garage and used to hold up a CJ for nearly 2 years now. (I'm not a quick builder)

I'm hoping to get it trail-ready in the next few weeks. So any runs after that I should be down for.
