Well since my suspension is all finished now, i want to see it flex!

Easier said than done, especially seeing that it is a SWB.

went out to where they were doing some construction work, and tried on a pile of dirt. here is the result, not very pleasing really becuase the shackles havn't even droped out yet and all 4 wheels are still easily on teh ground.

I will post more pictuers of me trying to flex her out, untill i get the picture we all really want to see.... the shackles drop all the way out on both ends!

Well i got some pictures of the front on the high lift today.

Here are the pics of hte front fully drop out (as far as they will go), the tape measures 45" to the bottom of the black rubber guard/flare. I am quite happy with it.

here is the rear. I have a slight problem with the rear, if i jack the truck up the wheel doesnt drop freely, it needs some force on it such as me standing on the wheel before it drops out. this could be that there just isnt enough force there, or that the bush needs wearing in, etc. i wont know till i get it flexed out offroad.

anyway, here it is totaly flexed out

the bottom of the guard/flare is 48" off the ground

do you know anyone who operates a forklift? Put the forks under the back tire and lift her up. (w00t) that will show you her max flex  Or find a large rut/ditch and drive into it diagonally. that'll do it to.

Most likely i wont do one. i can fit 35's under there now pretty easily, so i will chop 1" off all around the guards and leave it at that.

I dont need it, i would rather keep it as low as i can for winch comps so there is less chance of rolling it over coing around a corner etc.

here is a MK for sale that has a SOA and 35x10.5 simex ET's (i am going to run 35x11.5 simex ET's

it looks far too high to me, wouldnt do the higher speed work that i do.

i may put some 2" lifted springs in later on if i need any more lift or clearance. but i doubt i will.

Forget the forklift, just wheel the thing (w00t)

I think you'll find that if you get it crossed up in a big ditch, a couple of boulders or whatever that the stuffed side of your axle will provide the down force needed to get full droop on the other side. I always enjoy that feeling, kinda like stretching your legs, and then you start to see daylight under the tires shortly after that :-

Have fun testing it out

I just need to get the new bar made up and the winch on first.

Very funny!

Well yesterday I went in search of what the problem was with the rear shackles, everyones guess was that the rear springs were too hard. So..... Up went the truck, and out came the springs. Removed the middle leaf (there are only 3 and i couldnt remove the top or bottom one) and I opened up the spring clips. Went to put the springs back on and had a hell of a job due to the millitary wrap on the front eye of the springs. Then it hit me.... these were what were causing the problem. The military wrap were hitting the chassis when the shackles droped out causing limited rear wheel droop. Out came the angle grinder and off came the wrap.

Works pretty bloody good now, Only thing I am going to do is make new spring clips (make them bigger so leaves can separate more) so that I have more flex.

I have pics but will post up later

This is the furthest the truck would go up without lockers (one tire on each axle started to loose traction..... so no drive) I still need to re-work the leaf packs so that its flex's properly (new spring clips and maybe remove a rear leaf..... not sure yet)

yea they only moved 2" from the normal position. Most probably because I lost traction on my tires (they really do not like concrete) I think I may try the same thing but on dirt......

I did use momentum and get to the top of the ramp with all fours on the ground (shackles had dropped a lot more) but i couldnt do it slowly like i did in these pictures.......

So it can still go further but if i want to drive up it slowly i need a locker on at least one end.
