well actually the 500 goes to my dad, i owed him 1300, but with that now only 800.

when am i gonna stop over? summer i actually did want to hit up a few 4x4 trails from this site, so maybe mid-summer

in reality, i think what i will do is 4 inch lift and 35 inch a/t's or m/t's 4 inch seems cheaper and probably all i really need...maybe add a leaf or somethin later on.

how wide of a tire can i fit on those stock aluminum rims?

also, my uncle has a k-5 and he said he'd hook me up with some excess parts, and he knows a place where he can get me full stainless spicer lockout hubs for $60

will i need to re-gear for 35's?

the only problems i found so far was a burnt out hi-beam! im very pleased with the truck, and it handles much better without the plow. interior is in very clean shape, and i will vacuum it tomorrow, as well as do regular maintinance. it seems like a strong runner.

one thing i have a question about is when i put it in drive (overdrive actually) it has a very short pause and a slight "clunk" but seems to go into gear ok, is this ok, or is my trans going? it goes into reverse without a problem. tranny fluid is very clean, but i did not check to see if it smelled burnt.

let me know what you think guys!

For now you can run 31x10.5's without a hitch. They shouldn't rub at all. They'll fit on a 6, 7, or 8 inch wheel.

You can fit a 12.5" wide tire on an 8" wheel, but they're recommended for a 8.5" min wheel, and fit a 10" wheel perfect.

Doesn't it have hub lockouts on it now?

no its got autolockers, but as soon as they go out my uncle is hookin me up with stainless spicers. also, all of my friends were like "what a bad trade youre stupid" they saw the truck, heard it run, and theyre like #### nice truck man way better than i thought.

as for the rims that i have on there, you can see they are the stock aluminum ones...how wide are they? if they are 8'' then i will probably run them with bigger tires.

also, for the front axle, i THINK it is a dana 44 but im not sure, it didnt look like a regular corporate 10 bolt. but i could be wrong, seeing as it was dark and i took a quick glance with my cell phone light. i did manage to look at the steering knuckles, and if someone linked me to a side by side picture i could find out for sure

thanks again...cant wait to jack it up!!

tranny filter...will do.

air filter...actually a brand new fram is already in there

fuel filter...got one but didnt get to install it yet. that will probably happen tomorrow

spark plugs. all 8 are brand new AC delco (the 2 back ones snapped off, and i broke a new one. but theyre all in there now)

plug wires, dist cap, rotor....they will come soon too

engine oil checks out good, tranny oil checks out good.

fog lights behind the grill will be installed tomorrow

i might degrease everything tomorrow if i have the chance/feel like it, but it is otherwise pretty clean. im also going to clean the interior, take off the cut up air dam, and then run out and get some bondo for next weekend

took it through some soupy puddles and it was pretty fun stuff, i REALLY cant wait to lift this thing and do some real wheelin.

well, i did just about as much as a stock truck could today...and i installed foglights (not wired yet, we had no wires at the shop, but im not gonna be dorky and leave it)

and i got just about full flex...well, it started rocking between the RF and LR wheel...

and the last pic of climbing gravel...well, lets just say the hitch hit the ground, so a lift is not even questionable at this point, it will happen as soon as possible.

two questions

1. how can i upgrade my power steering? in 4lo it goes CHCHCHCHCH and wont let me steer when im sidehilling

2. with a lift, how unstable will my rig be? right now like i said i got it on3 wheels, so im a little worried about a rollover

Don't be so worried about how high the truck is you will know when it's too tall when it fall's over. your sway bar is probably what caused it to pick up a tire those rig's will lean pretty far before they fall down. My brother had a blazer that had 5" of lift and 36" tires it was wheeled hard and never rolled you just gotta get used to it and use your head.

As for your steering problem, is only bad at low rpm's, does it get better if you give it a little gas. My pickup has almost no power steering sometimes at low speeds when I'm just crawling along.. My pump doesn't do so well at low rpm's i have to give it a little gas to move the tires.

i was thinking that it might only be at idle, so i gave it more gas and it was louder. this does not happen on level ground at all, only when im flexing.

found a 4 inch lift kit for $250. comes with front springs, rear blocks (yeah i know but hey the price is right) and all 4 shocks.

will i need a drop pitman arm, and if so how much are they and where can i get one?

will i need to do any front or rear driveshaft mods?

i heard i will need to shim the front axles, can someone detail me on this?

thanks

oh, here is the truck im getting the lift from. hes running 35's, and i will run them too once i get more funding

Sweet looking donor truck!! You probably won't need shims under the front. I removed the shims under the front of my donor springs due to caster/wandering problems. It actually lined up the pinion with the t-case.

Here is a pic of my donor,,,
