i bought i 1986 gmc jimmy s15 4x4 5-speed new clutch new brakes for
$300 since then i put a $200 windshild and $500 tires their 285's and
everybody is telling me them tires are too big i am going to tear out
clutches like crazy i had one guy bet me $50 that my clutch is gone in
6 months is this true thanks bye

If you start out in first gear and not 3rd or 4th than you should'nt have any problems. Thats my 2 1/2 cents. The half cent is for inflation. And welcome. :wave:

He didn't tell us enough info about the tire to know how tall it is. It's about 11" wide. You're clutch will be fine. You might run into problems if you wheel it hard, but we're talking about city drivin....

as far as i am aware, the only tire that has 285mm width is the 285/75/16, which is a 32.8" tire i belive. i have never seen a 280/70 or a 285/80

Not sure where this guy is from, but I didn't think they measured tires in millimeters in America. We are pretty much just in inches. If anything I would say it would be measured in inches, 28.5"?????

Dont' usually shop for tires under 31's........And if I were to look at that size of tire that was on a car I would just take the size that is already on it and copy it and not worry about what all that means........

seems a clutch would wear out during the time it's being partially applied. While applied (pushed in) the clutch has no friction against the flywheel so it's not having it's face sanded off, while not applied (in gear) if you have the correct pressure plate and the clutch isnt glazed, it should be tight to the flywheel and not sanding the face off. Moral is ... DON'T RIDE THE CLUTCH! Can't see why it'd wear faster with bigger tires if you don't ride it. If it does wear fast, get taller gearing. don't get me started*&^%^&

Don't slip the clutch, and if the tire's are still too big put a lift on the rig
