gear problems no reverse Rate Topic: -----

yesterday i come out from a store get in my 1988 ford f-150 4x4, i put it in reverse and let out the clutch and it makes this high pitched grinding noise, It will not go into reverse, i finally get some people to push me out of the spot and all my forward gears still work fine, i dont know whats wrong, i thought if one gear goes they would go?

Oh come on now Jon...

I don't know to much about trans issues but can tell you this. Just yesterday one of the drivers I work with fried a trans. He lost all forward gears but retained reverse. It does happen but I have to say that your story sounds grim.

Have you tryed to put it into rev with the eng off? Give that a try, Rou will must likly need a rebulid.

come to think of it no it wont go into reverse with the engine off

Aint nuthin wrong with a ford that a chevy hasnt done 2 times
