The 302 and the 351 are very similar engines. The 351 has a taller deck height to get the extra cubes.

well eric on this one there is one major differnce the block it self is different the 351 is a little longer and the heads are shorter with a deeper stroke of the piston or at least it is in my work truck
now a 351 winsor is just a 351 cleavland thats been borded out a little and its closer to a 355 with little bit taller heads
and the police intercepeter 351 is stroked to a 427 but those are rare

though the design of the enmgines is about the same just bigger in size

For what you want to do I would stick with the inline 6. All of those JEEP guys telling you to put in a V8, they would not pull out there 6 for a 8.

You get the best of both worlds with a i6, torque and mpg. I'd think about lower gears for now to improve your low end power for more get up and go. Worry about your power plant when you need a new one. For more power now you could probably get some by letting the air flow better in and out of the cylinders. A large straight intake with a free flow air filter to the carb/tb and a larger exhaust system. Again, I'd go with gears and a locker if I had the cash. BTW I wish I had a i6 vs my gas sucking v8. :censored:

yeah the air intake and the exhaust are probobly real restrictive, another issue im having is when im in 1st or 2nd gear and i left off the gas it chuggs a little bit. My guesstimate is the fuel filter?

Could be, also check your timing, and a tune up would help.

Another option might be to put a Different tranny. Something with a lower gear in it. I have had a 80 F150, and currently drive a 78 and 89 F150, all with a 4 speed and grany first and love them off road.
