I don't know much about those vehicles. Does it have a physical lever to engage the 4wd or is it all electronic with the push of a button type 4wd.

Did you hear or feel anything happen? Did you know it wasn't in 4wd by the dash light not being lit or did you look out the window to see if the front tires weren't turning?

I know Onk had a problem with the TC "slipping" into 2wd because the shift linkage was loose and wasn't holding it in 4wd. If you have pushbutton 4wd it could be electrical. Did you try putting in low range?
I drive an 87' XJ.

Its all a physical system, nothin electric. Theat is the weird part there was no loud pops or anything like that. I first noticed when the rearend started to sink, then looked on the dash and the light was gone. I am almost possitive that it is not the TC. It still shifts into low. It just wont engage the front end.

The dodge has the axle disconnect....I believe.....similar to the one on the jeeps, which is vacuum operated, although I didn't know they had them on trucks that new, so I very well could be wrong, but it's something to check out.

I hate it when you do that!! Some of the most simple things that cause a big pain is so frustrating.

There isn't anything wrong with Dodge. I think they build a good truck. I think Sage's son is just a bit partial to Fords.

Glad you got it figured out. Funny that Dodge uses a disconnect in that new of a rig... learn something everyday :read:
Useless text that your reading for at least the first time.
